It’s hard to believe that 40 years have come and gone since we were together at Shopko High. That always brings a laugh to people as I talk about Good Old Weber, Grand Old Weber High School.
In the course of time, I have lost a little youth, but mostly my hair. On the other hand, I used to have a six pack but have since traded it in for a keg, if you know what I mean. My, how life sometimes gives and then takes away. Sometimes it gives you a little more than you need in some places.
At the present I am in the financial services arena. I am a solicitor and find people who want to have their 401k, 403b, Roth IRAs etc. actively managed. I am associated with Compass Active Tactical Money Managers in Chicago. The company I am with is a nationwide company. I also work in the Mortgage and Real Estate business. We have also teamed up with The Money Store and U-First.
My sweet wife, Rozann and I have been married for over 37 years. We have 9 grandchildren and one on the way in November. That will make 5 grand boys and 5 grand girls.
My oldest is a boy. His name is John Robert Petersen. John and his wife Amy have three children and they live in Cedar City, Utah. John is the Magazine designer and Art director for the Huntin’ Fool Magazine. The Huntin’ Fool magazine is a Guide to Western Big Game Hunting. You can view it on the web at www.huntinfool.com. It is the finest hunting magazine of it’s kind.
My next child is Kaylauna Harvey. Kaylauna and her husband Greg Harvey are the parents of four children and one to be born in November. Greg owns and operates a large dental practice in Salem Virginia. He employs 2 full time dentists along with himself. One thing I admire about Greg is that he is not afraid to get out there and be an entrepreneur. He is young and loves the challenges of business. They live in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia.
My third child is Spencer Grant Petersen. Spencer and his wife Whitney, are the parents of a little boy and girl. Spencer and Whitney live in Richland, Washington. Spencer works for the largest construction company in the world. They were the company who dug the channel under the English channel from London to Paris. Spencer was recently named their number one Engineer in his level in the entire company, worldwide. We are very proud of his accomplishments. He is working on the construction of a Nuclear waste plant in Richland.
Our baby, Christopher Merrill Petersen is a handsome 24 year old hunk. Chris just competed in the Utah Summer games in Cedar City, Utah in June 2008. He won two gold medals in the Powerlifting competition.
He weighs 182 lbs. He won the dead lift by lifting 475 lbs. He also won the pound for pound competition. Chris is in his senior year at SUU. He is majoring in business.
He also works as a graphic art designer for the Huntin’ Fool Magazine. Chris is an extraordinary artist. He has five of his wildlife art pieces for sale in Jackson Hole, Wyoming in a large gallery on the square. He is still looking for Mrs. Chris Petersen.
Life has been good to Rozann and me. We have been richly blessed. Our oldest son, John served an LDS mission to Paris, France. Our youngest son, Chris served his mission to Bolivia. He was caught in a war over natural gas in 2003 and had to hide for over a month or be killed. He finally was able to escape. To this day it is still too dangerous to allow North American missionaries in the La Paz, Bolivia mission.
All three of my boys are Eagle Scouts.
The attachments are two pictures of Chris. His face is kind of distorted in the one because of all his blood vessels bulging at the seams. The other one is normal. Rozann and I are looking forward to this year's reunion to see if you all look as old as we do. Getting old is not for weaklings.
