THE SHORT STORY OF THE LAST 40 YEARS OF MY LIFE
--Jacque Jensen Poore
BYU – 1968-1971: Had a blast, BS in Business Education, married Jeff Poore from Oakland, California
Chicago – Taught High School, learned a foreign language ( African American Jive), earned PHT (Put Hubby through) from Loyola School of Dentistry, loved life and Chicago style pizza in the big city, had first two kids.
Salt Lake City – Settled into real life raising a lively family (6 children – 3 boys, 3 girls ranging in age from 35 - 20). Involved in lots of volunteer work with Church,PTA, Jr. League, American Cancer Society, High School Booster Club and other community projects. Sharpened my passion for cooking, hiking, travel, reading, knitting, designing homes. Perfected the skill of envisioning the perfect family events, working like crazy to make the fairy tale happen, and then forced to adjust my expectations when the lively bunch haven’t cooperated with my vision. I am a very slow learner—I’m still at it.
Loving This Highly Underrated Stage of Life – Jeff and I have been married for 38 years. He is retired from a real job and is able to work at his own pace from home in his PJ’s. I have started a "late in life" career in residential and commercial design and have been fortunate to work on stunning projects with great people. I feel so lucky to have work that feels like play. We seem to feel an urgency to quench our thirst for travel, and never tire of exotic adventures. The best part is the grandchildren. Four of our six children are married and we have five beautiful, brilliant, funny grandchildren. Even the newborn (not pictured) is uncommonly spectacular.
By the way—Life is still a blast! Can’t wait to see all of you and catch up. Thanks to all who have worked hard to make this reunion happen.
