John Wayment

John’s wonderful talents and abilities are in the mechanical arena, not computer techy stuff, so I hope it is alright if I sneak this stuff in with out him knowing…..

After Graduating from WHS he served an LDS mission in Canada, after returning home he attended Weber State College and Graduated in auto body. He worked at that profession for a couple of years and migrated on to farm tractors and diesel mechanics by starting at Brigham Implement and working his way up basically teaching himself the necessary skills. Combining that with his natural mechanical abilities he is now an A+ mechanic at Great Salt Lake Minerals and Chemical Corp, where he has worked for over 30 years. He survived an award dinner and "roast" that they gave him last year for his time with the company.

He is the CEO, Manager, Accountant, Shop Foreman, Service tech, Purchasing Agent, Head Mechanic, Secretary, and Clean-up and Maintenance Crew for "Johns Farm Repair"; (in other words the sole proprietor of his own business, keeping many of the tractors and farm equipment in the area running.) I tease him that he is like being married to a doctor, getting calls in the middle of the night for repair help.

There are also many other machines in his shop that are primarily used for stirring up lots and lots of sand (Wheelers). With our sons he enjoys fixing up and riding them. There is always two or three wheeler "projects" in the works at his shop. He restores the wheelers to almost better than new condition. He is always fixing things for everyone, helping people, and designing and creating things. He is a very skilled welder and has made several trailers and other useful things for us. His skills are very beneficial to have around. I never call repairmen for anything.
The wheelers and John make it on many scout and hunting trips with the boys, and the annual or semi annual trips to Jerico /the Dunes, with family and friends. His grandchildren now enjoy riding the new addition to the wheeler family, the little 70.

Our family history…. We met at Weber State, just before he graduated, (good timing on my part). We’ve been married 33 yrs., Six Terrific Children, and of course Seven of the cutest and smartest grandchildren around (stay tuned for breaking news of more this winter).

Someone commented that we had a very nice looking family, and that all of our kids were good looking. To this John said "Sometimes an ugly old bull, can throw some good looking calf’s. "
I’ll follow the other bios here and say…We have I national gymnastics champion, 1 RM, 2 in the military, 3 Eagle Scouts, 4 married children, 5 golden wheelers(or many more), 6 children, 7 grandchildren, and a cockatiel in a black cage ….. sorry no partridge. (We also have two dogs, but they are the kids.)
I got John on a cruise to Alaska, he’s not sure about more, he’s a land lover. Especially if it’s sandy land.
John has been scout master 3 times, and loves hunting, horse packing and fishing with the guys.

Seriously, John loves helping and playing with his kids and spending time with his grandkids. We also have one son safely back from Irac, and we are so thankful. Our children have varied talents and careers ranging from Fiber optics, Cosmetology, to of course Mechanics, they all show signs of inheriting their dads skills. Shawn is a foreman of a directional drilling company that installs the fiber optics, Jadee owns her own Cosmetology business and keeps us all look’in GOOD, Burke is a Bradley Mechanic (military tanks, etc), Torin is a Mechanic working with his father at GSL. Corynne has started a career with the government, and wants to develop her photography skills more, and Daniel is just beginning to try out his abilities. Our parental paydays, as we call them, are that our children have made great choices and are working hard at being wonderful spouses and parents and staying close to the Lord. Our youngest has now graduated from high school, he plans on serving a mission soon. He hopes to work in the CSI field in the future. We don’t know what do to with this empty nest thing that is just around the corner, it seemed so far away just yesterday. Life just keeps getting better and better and our home and hearts are never really empty.

Hell-o Class of 1968;Looking at the pictures on the blog, I start to wonder why you all look so good. I'm sitting here without any of my own teeth, bald, fat, lame, half blind and my ears don't work so good. Other than that, with my mullet, and my gargantuan nose and huge Adams Apple, I look almost the same as I did 40 years ago. (Only now do I realize that is not a good thing for me and explains why I could never get a date, except with Kaiser.) The attached picture is of Karla and I as we renewed our vows last year in front of our brand new 1975 trailer home. My dog's name is Butch as is 3 of our 4 boys. Hope all is well with all of you, I honestly have only the fondest memories of our class. I really miss Layne Powell, heck, I really miss ME. Oh well.See you all later.

Larae Woodfield Crippen

Larae, Chuck, and Buddy

Twenty years ago, I married the love of my life, Charles Crippen, a Roy High graduate. We dated many years earlier. He looked me up after he divorced his 1st wife in 1988. After a few years of marriage, we were sealed in the Ogden LDS Temple. At the time we married, Chuck was living in the Chicago metro area. What a change moving from little, old North Ogden; helping to raise four step-children.

Chuck worked for the Dep’t. of Defense (DoD) as a Program and Management Analyst. In early 1994, we moved to Northern Virginia; first to Lakeridge, then to Woodbridge, and then to Fredericksburg. We toured a lot of the Washington DC area while living there. Virginia is beautiful in the spring and fall; but, miserable in the summer. We do not miss the humidity! We made wonderful friends while we lived in Illinois and Virginia; and, have many experiences we will never forget.

We drove to North Ogden every summer, and twice at Christmas, to help out with my ailing parents. Our parents are now deceased, and missed so much. While living in Virginia, Chuck and I experienced 6 deaths (out west) in a 2 year period; it was time to retire and come home. Chuck retired after 35½ years with the DoD. At the time, he was in charge of policy, procedures, and assessment tools for Internal Controls, Management Integrity, and Performance Assessment for the Defense Contract Management Agency.

We then moved ourselves back "home" to North Ogden, Utah, where I was born and raised. Chuck was born and raised in the Ogden/Roy area. It is wonderful to be back near family and friends. We have been here 3 years now, and bought a beautiful home up against Ben Lomond Mountain, in North Ogden. The sunsets are out of this world – so is the snow! We have great neighbors, friends, and church members here.

My health has prevented motherhood; but, I am blessed with 4 wonderful step-children I helped to raise. Michael, 31, is married to Melissa McBride of nearby Syracuse; they met in Fredericksburg while we and her parents lived there. He is studying to be a dentist, and lives with Melissa’s parents in Syracuse. Steven, 29, married Ranae Redford while they were living in the Chicago area. They have 2 wonderful boys, Kyler (2½), and Trey (6 months). Steven has a 9 year-old son, Laine, from a previous relationship in the Chicago area. Steven sells cars at Ken Garff’s Ogden Honda and resides in Ogden. Matthew, 28, lives and works in the Chicago area. His parent’s divorce soured Matthew on the idea of marriage. Matthew also plays bass guitar and sings backup in a rock band, which plays at several paying gigs. Amy, 24, lives the Chicago area; and, is studying to be a dental hygienist. She is divorced and is a great mother for her 7 year old son, Dyllin.



I have the most wonderful husband, who is my soul mate for all time and eternity. He stands by my side each and every day. He works so hard in our home as father, grandfather, and my husband. We get along so well, and love each other so very much. He has been a gift from God for me. It took me 20 years to find the perfect man, for me, my life-long sweetheart; boy, he was worth the wait.

I been active in Church as a Food Specialist, Relief Society Teacher, and Primary Teacher; and, have loved every minute of it. I have been both a Tupperware Consultant and Avon Consultant for 21 years; and, recently added Scentsy Wickless Candle Products to my repertoire. I enjoy each business so much. I also enjoy cooking & baking, sharing goodies with family & friends, and knitting & crocheting; and, love being a "mother" to my three Poodles. Chuck started a new career as a real estate agent; and, is associated with the Franklin Group – North West. Chuck (a Utah convert) is active at Church as 1st Advisor to, what he calls: "The Grumpy Old Men’s Club" (the High Priest Group). While living in Virginia, Chuck acted the lead role in a Ward play based on Michael McLean’s "The Forgotten Carols"; and, sang two seasons (1st as a Baritone, then as a 2nd Tenor) with the Mormon Choir of Washington D.C. Chuck sang with the choir in the Washington D.C. Temple, when Gordon Hinckley honored the Temple workers for the Temple’s 30-year anniversary. Chuck misses the choir very much; and, sings in whatever choir he can that performs "good" and challenging music back here. Last year, he sang lead for the Barber Shop Quartet in our Stake play, "The Music Man." In addition to music, Chuck loves real estate, old architecture, old cars, geology & geography, astronomy (not astrology), art; and, especially, his service at church and the Lord. He was recently infected by the genealogy bug. Oh yea, he tells me often that he loves me the most!

Tom Singleton

Tom Singleton Bio:

After returning from my mission to Argentina in 1971 I moved to Logan to attend Utah State University. Shortly after arriving in Logan I met my future wife, the former Lynne Jorgensen, an alumnus of Sky View High School class of 69. We have been married 36 years and have three boys and two girls who range in age between 23 and 34 years old.

After completing a masters degree in economics at USU, I have been a model of stability as we have lived in Providence, Utah for the last 32. We were in our first house near the mouth of Providence Canyon for 25 years and moved into a new home we built about seven years ago that is located only one mile farther south. During that time period I worked in banking for the first five years after college and have been self-employed for the last 28 years in real estate appraisal.

Our four oldest children are married and our youngest daughter is currently serving a mission in Ireland. We have eight wonderful grandchildren (our daughter was pregnant with number eight when the picture was taken). Our oldest son works with me in our appraisal business, our second oldest lives in Cedar City and works for a national food processing company, our married daughter is a homemaker and lives in Burley Idaho where her husband operates a large farm. Our youngest son recently began medical school in Wisconsin, and our youngest daughter has 5 months left on her mission.

We are true blue, USU Aggies. Four of our kids have graduated from USU and our missionary daughter has two semesters left.

I hope you have a great time at the reunion and wished we could be there. It is amazing how fast time has past. I guess we might even be getting a little old, at least that is what our grandkids think! Does it bother any of you guys that people in restaurants and retail stores when thanking us for our business often refer to us as “Sir”??

It’s been fun to read the updates. It is also surprising how many of you live close by. I probably pass you by unknowingly. I liberated my yearbooks from the dust, my Senior copy still blank from missing yearbook day whilst taking finals at WSC. Sad, I think I’ll bring it along for autographs after seeing the accomplishments listed in the bios. My bio picks up at yearbook day and I went on to finish half of my nursing classes before switching to education. I worked at the old Dee and moved to the new McKay-Dee; working while I finished school, met my husband (a la general hospital), and started teaching for Weber School District in 1971. Forty years later and I have come full circle.

We moved to California, Kentucky and Ohio where my husband, Lorell Fawson, attended Podiatry school. We lived in HUD housing for four years in Cleveland, an education in itself, and moved back to Utah for his practice. We have lived in North Ogden for 28 years. Lorell continues to practice podiatry and it pays for his farming hobby. He farms our 12 acres and shops for equipment. I don’t give him too much hassle if he loans me the backhoe.

For the last 20 years I have been working as a teacher and then as a counselor. I tried high school, jr. high, and decided to stay in elementary where we don’t do class changes. I love my job, love the kids and have the summers with my grandchildren and garden. I love to hike and camp so do the camp director fix in the summer. The Wind Rivers sign in the blog made me nostalgic; it was a great five day backpack trip with friends.

I have three great adult children. They are all Weber High Warriors. My mother, who is 93, was also a Weber High graduate, along with my sister LeeDell (‘65) and brothers, Jethro and John (‘71) and sister Emma (’75). My daughter, Saysha, graduated in ’90, Justin graduated in ’94 and Ammon in ’98.

Saysha graduated from BYU on scholarship, with honors, and married Sean Reyes who graduated with her and went on to Berkley Law School while she was in Romania on an LDS mission. They live in SLC and have five beautiful children. Sean is finally back from the Republican convention and sent the Sean, Saysha and family photo. He is very helpful when he is around. He's a hard working guy, she is a beautiful supportive wife and mother. He was awarded the National Young Attorney of the Year this year. (Nice kudo for Utah - vs NY and LA) Next month he will receive the outstanding young alumni award from BYU for this year. Ok, so mom's brag. I never did any of that stuff -or raised 5 kids either.

Justin married Sara Robison, who went to Ogden High School, when he returned from a mission in Italy. He graduated on the Deans List at Westminster with Army support which he paid back in full at 9-11, Afghanistan and Iraq speaking Arabic. He works for Focus and lives in North Ogden with Sara and their four fantastic children

Ammon went to Ukraine for his two year mission and was just married in March to Lena Saiz. He works for the Microsoft division of Focus. They are doing what we were doing 38 years ago… working and going to school.

I have come full circle by returning to Farr West this last year to work at the elementary school. Many of the Watson clan still lives in that area. I’m renewing old acquaintances. I spend my summers traveling, entertaining grandkids and gardening. I used to spend a lot of time fighting morning glory and trying to stay young but the extension agent tells us the morning glory holds the earth together and removing it all would be a disaster. The staying young thing isn’t happening either. I went to buy new athletic shoes- for gardening- and the salesman asked what caused the unusual wear on the old pair. I said, "shoveling’ and he said, ‘shuffling?" That and ‘40 year reunion’ says it all. We are going to Park City to enjoy ourselves for a few days around the reunion. I might see you there at the home show or the Egyptian…you’ll know me by my shuffle. Talana W. Fawson

I am excited to see everyone again. It was hard to remember everyone's names 10 years ago, and my brain has really deleted a lot of names and details since then. It drives me crazy!

After high school I went to Weber State and got my MRS degree. My children were impressed for a long time, until they realized what that really was! I met Terry Adams there and we got married in 1970. Terry served in the Coast Guard during the Vietnam War. He is a Commercial Landscape Contractor. His company is Great Western Landscape, in Salt Lake City. We have moved 13 times--hoping that our present home will be our last! We have loved every place we lived and have met some wonderful people through the years. We now live 1/2 mile from my mother and dad's farm, so it is like coming home again.



We have 6 children and 14 adorable grandchildren, who love their Grandma! Hardly a week went by this summer that I didn't have someone here for a sleep-over. Our daughter Sherdene, married Tyler Surrage and they have 2 boys, and live in West Warren. She is a stay at home mom, and spends most of her time trying to keep up with her two "lively" boys!

After serving a mission in Rosario, Argentina, Ryan married Erika Dale, who he met when we lived in Santa Rosa, CA. They have 2 girls and 2 boys. He recently quit his job, sold their house and is going to medical school.

After serving a mission in Manchester, England, Dennis married Anita Hadley, from Taylor. He is a pilot for Sky West. They recently moved to West Richland, Washington, and have 2 girls and 2 boys.

After serving a mission in West Melbourne, Australia, Michael married Cami Thurber, from West Weber. They just moved to West Weber after living in Burley, Idaho for a couple of years. He is currently driving truck, but loves farming. They have 3 girls, with one due in January.

After serving a mission in Seattle, Washington, Craig married Evan Aschbrenner, from Hooper. They are both going to school at Utah State, with one girl, and another due in May.

Kevin--our baby, is on a mission in Mexico City. He is due home in November.

Terry and I have finally adjusted to being empty nesters, and have come to really enjoy it. It has been fun to pick up and take a few trips. We finally made it to Hawaii this year--after 38 years we thought it was about time! We keep busy with our church callings, keeping up the yard, and keeping up with all the birthdays, ball games and recitals! We have really been blessed with a wonderful family, and have had many great times together.

Gaylen and I have just celebrated our 41st wedding anniversary. We have 9 daughters, 22 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren.

We’ve done many different jobs over the years, Air Force, Thiokol, Dairy Farming, Equipment repairs ETC. For the last 12 years we have worked for Camperworld Trust as RV Park Managers in Woodland Utah, (south east of Kamas UT) on the Provo River, for 9 years. Gaylen was put in as Construction Manager over the 8 parks that Camperworld owns for the last 3 years.

We are empty nesters, living in a RV, going from park to park doing construction and maintance.Our home base is in Plain City, but the kids call us and ask “Where are my Gypsy Parents today.” Our job is lots of work, but very enjoyable, definitely not boring. Eileen (Eskelson) RobertsClass of 68
